NSW: Fingerprinting under way on Norfolk Island

SYDNEY, Aug 12 AAP - Fingerprinting of Norfolk Island residents is under way in a bidto solve the community's first murder in 150 years.

The body of Sydney woman Janelle Patton, 29, was discovered on March 31 by touristsat the picturesque Cockpit Waterfall Reserve, on the island's northern side.

The vivacious manager of the Castaway Hotel dining room, who had moved to the islandfrom Sydney two-and-a-half years before, had been stabbed to death and her body partiallywrapped in plastic and dumped.

First through the island's Rawson Hall, where the Australian Federal Police (AFP) haveset up finger printing stations, was Chief Minister Geoff Gardner at 8.30am local time(7am AEST).

"The first person went through at 8.30am and they'll continue all day and for as longas it takes for the volunteers to go through the process," AFP spokeswoman Beryl Janzsaid.
