Fed: Bomb injures cleaner in Canberra

CANBERRA, Aug 25 AAP - A bomb blew up in the hands of a cleaner at a Canberra bus stop today.

Australian Federal Police said the small device exploded at major bus interchange in
the northern suburb of Belconnen at 9.30am (AEST), injuring the man's face and hands.

The ACT Bomb Team was called in to check the area and declared it safe two hours later.

Police said they were still investigating the cause of the explosion and the nature
of the device.

The cleaner was in a satisfactory condition in hospital this afternoon.
